TS- Golding’s writing foreshadows the savagery of Idi Amin through the behavior of the antagonist Jack in his novel, Lord of the Flies.
MI1- Firstly, one of the greatest similarities that Idi Amin and Jack share is that they seized power “Illegally”.
S1- Jack began to become popular among the other boys on the island due to his ethic to exclude work from their time on the island, because of this he gained strength in numbers, later making him the undeclared leader.
S2- Just as Jack gained popularity in the novel so did Amin, as he rose through the ranks, gaining fame and his greed for power lead to him executing a coup.
MI2- Furthermore, both Jack’s and Amin’s morals were debauched by the sway of power, leading to the savagery in their rulership. …show more content…
S2- Amin initially charmed the people who supported his coup, but after assuming power he shot all of his closest allies, to ensure that there was no competition for power.
MI3- Finally, the theme in Lord of the Flies that power corrupts, seems to correlate well with the cruel behavior displayed by Jack and Amin.
S1- Though Jack’s actions were not nearly as severe as those of Idi Amin’s, his display of untroubled dancing around Simon's corpse shows that he no longer cares for those around
