Imperialism was the believe that one country must dominate another politically, socially, and economically. In the 1870s through 1914 the world experienced their Age of Imperialism. Although Imperialism allowed new resources to be exported to different parts of the world, ultimately Imperialism did not help the world. Imperialism brought more slavery, exploitation in resources in Africa, and the spread of disease. Imperialism mostly involved European countries and Africa and so did the problems that occurred with Imperialism.

Originally, European countries did not want to colonize Africa because they had no desire to and past experience had shown that the establishment and administration of distant possessions was expensive and often troublesome. However, the Europeans needed resources to feed their machines. So, they turned to Africa who was rich in resources at the time. However, they needed a way to get those resources from Africa. So, different European countries colonized different parts of Africa and soon almost all of Africa was colonized by different European countries to get the resources that the Europeans needed for free. The African rulers however, were not okay with the Europeans. Some leaders surrendered through do to their advanced weaponry. However, some rulers fought and tried to revolt. In Africa, the Zulu warriors rose up to try to drive out the British forces. These diseases mainly included smallpox and malaria. Smallpox is an extremely contagious disease that could spread in many ways. Smallpox was destroyed Worldwide by 1980, but left a big mark on the thousands it killed. Malaria spreads by infected animals or insects stings or bites. Malaria is still around to this day, but is rare. Since the Europeans were already experienced with the diseases they have made antibodies so they are not affected. Many died by smallpox in all parts of the world including the New World. Even through the European brought health care, it was mainly for Europeans and once again many people died because of the variety of diseases brought.
For these reasons Imperialism was ultimately bad for the world. During imperialism people were mistreated, manipulated, and were killed because of slavery, diseases, and resources.
