Altruism; this can be defined as selflessness; a person is concerned with the welfare of others. Many cultures around the world consider this trait a virtue. Almost all the religions in the world encourage this trait amongst their congregation. The opposite of altruism is selfishness, and in biology altruism can be defined as the act of performing an action at a cost of one’s self. For instances, depriving one’s self of a pleasure and the quality of life, time, probability of survival and this is meant to benefit a third party without an expectation of return or compensation (William and Arvind, 2014)
