The first alternative to prison for juveniles is probation also known as community corrections. During this the individual is allow out of prison but as a curfew and does community service to pay back there debt to society for the wrong they have done. They also have to report to a probation officer monthly or however the courts design that they come before them and, if they don’t show up they will go to jail for a violation. They also require them to take random drug test because they should remain drug free while they are in the program. Some of them are required to do community service to help out nonprofit places in their community. Lastly they would like the individual to seek mental health treatment if needed but not always required.
The second type of punishment is home confinement also known as house arrest. They make the individual stay in the house unless they have school or have a job or other required things to leave out of the house for which have to be approved by the …show more content…
Offenders get sent to boot camp when they get into a lot of trouble and/or seem like they are nothing else is working they just keeping hanging with the wrong crowd or getting arrested. In boot camp they educated them by getting them a GED, physical exercise and, individual counseling. They get them counseling because most people who get into a lot of trouble as a child have problems at home such a parent that’s on drugs or neglect parents that just don’t care what they do. Most teens that have a lot of problems in this area are teens that come from ruff areas where there is nothing for them to do in there spear
