A lot of information was gathered from conducting retail store visits of our partners and seeing how the competition was represented in the marketplace. The differences between drug stores, grocery stores, and mass merchandizers was rather notable. Number of brands sold, shelf space, and pricing were just a few items from our gathered data that deferred when comparing the different types of retail distributors. The depth of and breadth of products that were carried in the drug store we visited fell in the middle between grocery stores and mass merchandizers. The drugstore that we visited carried 26 different brands of medicine comparable with our product, Allround. The store housed approximately 100 SKUs that encompassed various sizes or products. Within the drugstore there was an entire shelf along the aisle, with an approximate size of 6 feet by 20 feet that displayed the various products. It was obvious that some products had ran out of stock, maybe two or three. There were a couple pharmacists and what looked like about four pharmacist assistants. There were not any visible shelf toppers, but I did see coupons, promotional labels, and endcap displays. The product brands that we surveyed ranged in price from $7.99 to $12.99. …show more content…
They only carried 14 brands with approximately 50 different SKUs. Within the grocery store, near the pharmacy department the products could be found on an aisle shelf approximately 5 feet tall and 15 feet long. We did see a few stock-outs of products. It looked as if there was one pharmacist working and two pharmacist assistants. Exactly like the pharmacy, there were no visible shelf toppers, but there were coupons, promotional labels, and endcap displays.
