Biome location-
Alice springs is situated in the centre of Australia at Longitude 23.6980 S and Latitude 133.8807 E, the surrounding region being central Australia. Alice springs is nearly equidistant from Adelaide, South Australia and Darwin and is located adjacent to the Simpson desert.
Alice Springs has an annual average rainfall of 285.9 millimetres (though 70% of years are below average) and has a high evapotranspiration rate and aridity meaning it has a desert climate. The town experiences an average of 300 sunny days yearly and temperature ranges from 20-40 degrees during the day in summer and temperatures dropping below 0 degrees at night in winter. Commercially produced food includes livestock, lettuce and herbs.
Most food that is produced locally in transported to markets in SA or overseas. Only a small portion of local food is stocked in the major supermarkets within Alice springs due to the lack of availability, the locally produced food not being registered to be sold, Lack of proper certification from local food producers and the reported decline of food productivity.
Livestock that is locally raised is transported lout of the region to meat processors in the southern states or north Australia due to the lack of abattoirs in central Australia meaning that livestock that is locally produced completely passes the local markets. Horticultural producers export due to the simplicity of single contractor and the freight out of the Alice Springs region being cheap.

Bush taka/ foods have a spiritual and cultural significance to the Aboriginal people and are divided into the following classifications-

- Plants
- Edible
