Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a disorder marked by a pattern of instability in moods and behavior(REF). Four characters in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland seem heavily influenced by these BPD and dual personalities. The four characters are Tweedledee, Tweedledum, the Queen of Hearts and Alice. First off the twins, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, constantly conflict with each other, much like a dual personality would do. The Queen of Hearts exhibits BPD because her mood changes randomly, showing an instability in her moods. She also always threatens to behead people, yet her mood changes again and she never follows through with it. The final character is Alice, who reflects a dual personality. A dual personality is a “A form of mental disturbance in which someone assumes alternately two different identities; neither is conscious of the existence of the other”(REF).
