Next I will look at Alfred Stieglitz. He is an American photographer and modern art promoter. He was born on the 1st of January 1864 and died aged 82 on the 13th of July 1946. He was the son of Edward Stieglitz, a German Jew who moved to the United States.
Early in 1902 Stieglitz announced the existence of a new establishment called the ‘Photo-Secession’ which was a group dedicated to promoting photography as an art form. Most of Stieglitz’s early work was sentimental, conventional or a bit of both.
