Alexandra Braken: Character Analysis

When I completed chapters 12-16 ,there was a lot of important details. Not just about the storyline, but the character’s lives. While I was reading, some of the quotes in the book stood out to me. Alexandra Braken wrote things in her book that caught my attention. On page 189 chapter 12, Ruby says “Cate had told me to divide my life into three acts and close the first two behind me- but how did someone do that? How were you supposed to forget? “. What Ruby is trying to say is how much agony and pain she went through at Thurmond. When you go through something so traumatic and awful people always say get over it. They think it is so easy just move on and just forget everything. I mean you can move on and continue your life and get better, but to forgetting is something you can’t do. You can’t forget something that affected you in a huge way. This caught my eye because I feel like I can relate. I have had issues that affected me in many different ways. “You are incredible. ”And my reward for that was the feeling of her birdlike bones twinning around my neck. I twisted around so that I was facing her, because I wanted to her to see my face-I wanted her to see how serious, how sincerely I meant it when I repeated myself “You are incredible” This quote caught my attention because this really shows how much Ruby cares about Zu. I feel as if Ruby sees Zu as a little sister. Zu also was at one of the Rehabilition Camp so Ruby understands what Zu went through. Since Zu is younger than Ruby, Ruby really tries to take care of her and show her she is someone special. The more I read; I learn more about Rubys and Zu’s relationship.
