Alexander Graham Bell Research Paper

The invention I have researched is the telephone. This invention was one of the most important inventions during the Industrial Revolution.The wonderful inventor was Alexander Graham Bell, along with his assistant worker, Thomas A. Watson. Bell was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. His father was a proffesor and he had two brothers. His dad and grandfather were both teachers of speech. Alexander Graham Bell also loved working with people who are deaf. He liked it because his mom turned deaf. When he wanted to build his invention two men named Gardiner Hubbard and Thomas Sanders, paid for his idea. On the same day that Bell went to the patent office, another inventor, Elisha Grey also sought a patent for a similar invention. His invention was similar to Bell’s which also was experimenting with acoustic telegraphy. It was a machine that transfere the voices or speech by water, known as the water transmitter. This all happened on February 14, 1876. Finally, on March 7,1876 his patent was approved. Alexander Graham Bell was inspired by a German scientist named, Hermann von Helmholtz, who used electrical currents to make vowel sounds. He started to make his invention with investors being Gardiner Hubbard and Thomas Sanders. At first, he was miserable and didn’t know much about mechanics.In March 1875, Bell met with a famous scientist named Joseph Henry. He told and explained all his troubles to Henry, but Henry just replied, “Get it!” This encouraged Bell but unfortunately, he still didn’t have what he needed. One day he met a man named Thomas A.
