There are a few different types of ways of learning. Some types of learning may require reinforcement, but observational learning also referred to as social learning has no evident prior reinforcement (Feldman, 2013). Observational learning involves observing someone else’s behavior and learning from or mimicking the persons or models behavior in short, it is learning through modeling (Feldman, 2013). Observational behavior is a social phenomenon, looked at by psychologists Albert Bandura as a social cognitive approach to learning (Feldman, 2013). The experiment shows how children learn to mimic aggressive behavior as well as language toward a toy blowup doll (bobo) after serving an adult (the model) expressing aggressive behavior and language (YouTube, 2010). Albert Banduras perspective did not only include the learning of a models negative behaviors, it also included positive behaviors and moral development. Some of the key points of Albert Banduras theory included, people can learn by observing others, learning and performance are not necessarily the same thing, and although reinforcement plays a role in learning it is not a basic finding of the learning process (EBSCO, …show more content…
I work with adults home have mental delays, brain injuries, and are recovering addicts. On a yearly basis both of the companies I work for have classes to demonstrate how to work with our clients and consumers. When I first started working for both of the companies, I had to do what something called, shadowing. I would work with a coworker and observe how they worked and handled our clients and consumers. This type of training and observational learning has helped me to not only learn how to approach and work with our clients, but also how to better understand
