Air Pollution Case Study Essay

Improved Essays
We have conducted a case study about air pollution. Air pollution is one of the biggest threat to earth and our existence because air pollution effects the ozone layer in a bad way where it shrinks the thickness of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer disappear, all of the sun rays including healthy and harmful will have contact our skin and body, And will eventually kill us. Air pollution is a combination of gases that surround us in the air. Also we can call it a mixture of chemicals and gases in air which we breathe it all our lives. There are things that causes air pollution naturally and cause by humans. For an example, hurricanes where wind travels at a very high speed which result to destroying houses, schools, malls and everything in …show more content…
Examples of transportations cars which burns a large amount of gasoline which is burned by the engines, trains (which are powered by fuel or charcoal) also has a big impact on the air. Air planes which consumes tons of fuel because the air planes has a high amount of octane that leads to burning a lot of fuels, air planes causes a lot of pollution because trips in air lines almost never stop. The final kind of transportation which causes air pollution are ships. Ships runs by diesel which is considered the most poisonous gas when it is burned and ships consumes thousands of tons of diesel. Electric power are responsible for more than quarter of the CO2 emissions which is estimated by 16%. For an example, in Kuwait, to generate electric power tons of gases are being burned because Kuwait does not have any other way to generate electric power like other countries in different continent. The third reason for CO2 emissions are industrials which is almost estimated 13% which is almost a quarter of the total CO2 emissions. An example for industrials are oil refineries. Oil refineries is a place where people breakdown oil to fuels and the problem with oil refineries is that a lot of oil would be not needed so the only way to get rid of it is to burn it which causes a lot of air pollution. Also another example of industrials is tires factories, when tires are no longer useable or not needed there are thrown deep into the desert or place far away from building and people then they dig a hole in the earth and then they throw the unusable tires into the hole and burn them, and tires do not burn easily and they cause a lot of smoke and it will take a lot of time to successfully burn them away. Another cause that effects the air is a residential pollution. This is a kind of cause that does not represent a large impact on the air

Pollution is a huge problem pertaining to the health of not only humans but animals as well. Some of the pollution was naturally occurring such as erupting volcanoes, erosion of land from constant wave breaks, carbon dioxide build up from organisms. One things for sure, the pollution that was caused by humans first came a problem during the Industrial Revolution in the late 1700’s to the mid 19th century. This pollution affected not only the health of people, but it was killing the environment. Some examples of man made pollution are factories giving off smog, exhaust from motorized vehicles, trash not thrown away properly, and runoff from fertilizers.…

Air pollution has been minimized to a great extent and Americans now have much cleaner air to breathe preventing hundreds of thousands of cases of serious illness, while people are living longer as a result. PH levels are down, Leading cause of air pollution in the U.S. is motor vehicles. Ozone, or smog is an irritating invisible gas that is formed most often by a reaction of sunlight and vapors emitted when fuel is burned by cars, trucks, factories, power plants, etc. Ozone reacts chemically (oxidizes) with internal body tissues that it comes in contact with, such as the lungs.…

In the economy, the government plays a minimalistic role and intervenes only when necessary. However, there is an issue defining the amount of government intervention which should occur. The Coase Theorem provides guidelines when dealing with externalities; government involvement is not needed when ownership of property is defined clearly, only a small number of people are affected, and bargaining costs are insignificant. In cases such as pollution, private bargaining can not remedy the negative externality, and government involvement becomes unavoidable. One type of pollution which has required the government to arbitrate is emissions because the emissions are released into the air, a large number of people are affected, and the environment…

The state of California is driven by high productivity, the demand to produce and deliver makes air pollution inevitable. Air pollution is caused by air gasses that emit into the atmosphere, ultimately contaminating the air. The central valley of California is notorious for poor air quality, it has even been referred to as ‘America’s toxic agricultural capital’ (Leslie, 2010). The California Central Valley is greatly focused on agriculture, it is filled with farmers who rely heavily on their crops for income, but is also composed of larger metropolitan areas like Fresno and Bakersfield.…

In Utah air pollution is a big problem, becasue of the amount of factories here. Although we know why our air is so polluted not much is being done about it now. If we were to reduce the amount of production at oil factories here in Utah but in other places as well, we could change the Earth's future. In the National Geographic Society: Air Pollution article it says "Sometimes, mountains or tall buildings prevent air pollution from spreading out.…

Coal is known as a major contributor of carbon II oxide, which has become a major challenge across the country. Another source of emission comes from industries. This comes from fossil fuel for energy and emissions from various chemicals that produce goods for raw materials.…
