Numerous research on RAE’s in sport, make comparisons with academics (Cobley, Baker, Wattie, & McKenna, 2009; Musch & Grondin, 2001). Variances in cognitive growth between students born early in the academic year verse those born late in the academic year have shown evidence of RAE (Bisanz, Morrison, & Dunn, 1995; Morrison, Smith, & Dow-Ehrensberger, 1995). Students born late in the age grouping typically underperform when compared to student born earlier in the age grouping, (Cobley, McKenna, Baker, & Wattie, 2009; Helsen, W. F., Winckel, J. V., & Williams, A. M., 2005). Nevertheless, it should be noted that education is not a choice early on in a student’s life, while the choice to participate in sport is usually voluntary. The Association runs Toddler programs for U3 and U4 age groups, Intramural programs for children ages U5 though U16, an intramural Academy program for U8 and U9 kids, and a Travel Division for children ages U10 through U16.
