After reviewing the EEOC website and reading of the textbook, I was not surprised at all about the information I read. The EEOC site list different types of discrimination that currently exist in today’s world. The topic I decided to discuss is age discrimination.

During 1967, the federal law under the Age Discrimination Employment Act (ADEA) was enforced to protect employees’ ages 40 or older rights to work and in 1986 to protect mandatory retirement. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforcement under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, “the law makes it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. According to, Holliday ADEA secures both employees and job applicants abilities and qualifications not because of age or pass criminal records; regardless of their disability or illness that will prevent them from working (2010). Let the truth be told, some older employee can outwork a younger employee or vice of versa. For example, my father is a retired truck driver and even though he receives all his monthly benefits, he’s still work part time as a truck driver. On the other hand, my brother who claims to be job searching put in applications everywhere, but what the purpose of filing out an application when he refuses to follow up on it. There are plenty of younger workers who have jobs that don’t even appreciate it; they rather call-in or not show just to hang out with …show more content…
Employers conduct pre-employment checks for liability reasons to protect their customers, employees, general public, reputation, and assets. If an individual has committed a crime and served time shall be given a second chance depending on the charges. A company does discriminate against ex-offenders with criminal history, especially sex predators. I included a website that contains records of sex offender registry counts for all states (https://www.parentsformeganslaw.org/public/meganReportCard.html).

I was told that small minded people fear what they do not understand. Discrimination in the workplace is zero tolerate no job should condone unequal treatment. We live in a diverse nation with people who take their beliefs of stereotypes to a level that causes them to think that other are not equal to them. Life is short; there should be more love than
