What is the legal issue?
Euthanasia, also known as mercy killing, is defined the deliberate bringing about of the death of a person suffering from an incurable disease or condition, as by administering a lethal drug or by withdrawing existing life-supporting treatments. There are 2 types, active and passive euthanasia. Active euthanasia is when death is quickly and deliberately caused, e.g. administering drugs to bring about the death of someone that suffers from a terminal illness. Passive euthanasia is when death is caused by holding back treatment that keeps the person alive e.g. removing life support systems. This is technically described as death from a “natural cause”.

Why should it be legalised?
There are several reasons as to why Euthanasia should be legalised. First and foremost, many believe that illegalising euthanasia is an infringement of one’s rights, particularly one’s right to freedom of choice. Everything we do is affected by our right to freedom of choice. In fact, our entire society is built on this right. This right is fundamental and applies to all aspects of life, and this includes to right to choose how you die. To illegalise euthanasia is to infringe upon this inherent and fundamental right.
Another reason why euthanasia should be legalised is because everyone has a right to a good death, or a death with dignity. Everyone desires a good, dignified death to a preferably long and prosperous life. However, luck may not always be in your favour, and in even something like a freak accident or falling down could put someone in a world of never ending, unimaginable pain. Many may seek a death that causes them even more pain, and rids them of all human
