Black Americans all over the world are always being treated unfairly no matter where they are. In the article “A Conversation on Inequality with Students of Color” the author talks about the challenges African Americans faced in school, and how they were treated because of their skin color. It was difficult for students, who have different skin tone than white folks, to get the right education they needed if staff members show negative views on students based on their color. It makes black folks feel unwelcomed and less motivated to pay attention and complete their work. The author states, “The most immediate way to address inequality is to listen to the young people of color and those from poor households” (Kozol). Unfortunately, not everyone in this world grows up with a nice house, with a nice car, or even with parents. There are people out there who do not have the benefits like others do. For example, in one of the scenes the white folks divide themselves up from the slaves and leave them outside to do yard work and clean up for days, while they are inside eating and cracking jokes amongst themselves. Although these rough times have long passed, I still feel that small episodes of segregation can be found throughout communities.
