Many Americans, not just animal rights activists, view SeaWorld as unethical because of its inhumane treatment of animals. SeaWorld was accused of abusing its orcas, deceiving consumers about mistreatment of the animals and poor health and safety practices, and hiding potential dangers from trainers (seaWorld). The organization was more concerned with earning money than the safety and wellbeing of animals and its employees. Its reputation caused an 84% decrease in profits, 500,000 fewer visitors, and lose of sponsors (Rhodan). SeaWorld tried to turn the public perception of their company around with public-relation ads and campaigns and promises of ending the park’s theatrical orca shows and orca breeding. Additionally, the organization invested into habitat projects, fighting animal welfare injustices, and showing the animal-rescue and rehabilitation work the company does (Fry). SeaWorld is still struggling due to its reputation, and may have to close its parks in the
