Decent Essays
Hello! I am Kenneth Yee from Luis' Period 1 Algebra class. I am contacting you because there is an issue that was brought to my attention by your son regarding Aeries and Google Classroom. I am very sorry for not having contacted you about this issue sooner and not having fixed it. I understand your frustration and I will indeed fix the issue by the end of this first semester so it will not affect him in any way in terms of final grades.

Hello, My reason for substituting this course is due to the fact that I have already learned the knowledge and concepts from a course taken from a previous school (ENGL 102 from the Community College of Philadelphia) which satisfy the course objectives for ENGL 202C. With this course, I learned the techniques I need to write an effective technical paper. During this course, I wrote multiple papers which dealt with various aspects of our world today, such as science and technology, social interaction, and economic facets. This gave me an advantage because not only did I know how to write an effective paper in science and technology (the main theme of ENGL 202C), I also wrote on other factors of life which allowed me to broaden my horizon and…

The Hidden Emotions in the Logic of Carr’s “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” In society, people tend to rely on their computers, smart phones, and other devices so much. Technology has rapidly increased since the beginning of the 2000s and accessing knowledge has never been easier. Information can be retrieved by a few clicks through a search bar on a flat screen. Many people today would say that search engines, such as Google, are saving time and energy.…

He told me that when he moved to see she told him to not look at the board and could he not hear. Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

One organization I found online was an organization called The Association of American Educators. “They are a non- union professional educator’s organization which was established in 1994 by nationally recognized educators who saw the need for a professional organization that focused on student achievement without an emphasis on partisan politics” (The Association of American Educators, 2015, p.1). The Association of American Educators seek greater professionalism in every classroom they are associated with and have members in 50 states. This association also provides educational professionals such as teachers with the proper tools and knowledge when they put students’ educational interests first. Children learn differently so they help teach…

Before this course, I did not know grammar well, and what I did know I did not fully understand. Yet, due to taking the course, I learned more about the structure of the English language, and can use grammar better than I did before. For instance, the first three major assignments were filled with missing comas, verb-tense misuses, and run-on sentences. Now, I may still make mistakes, but I know why I have made them. In other English courses, I had grammar homework and reading assignments that, often, seemed to be busy work, but with this course, I did not think that was the case.…

In the first article “is Google Making Us Stupid” by Nicholas Carr the main purpose that the author is trying to convey is how online searching and the quick return of the information from searching sites such as Google has affected the way we view and consume information. The author persistently states that to the instantaneous nature that the internet has created a just skimming culture in which information is just browsed and not digested or processed. To prove his argument he uses a number of perspectives including personal, scientific, and historical data. He believes that technology as a whole alters the neurological pathways changing the way we perceive things. Carr then goes on to state that algorithms created by Google are constantly…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…
