Adversity In My Football Career

Improved Essays
Adversity is a specific time in someone's life when they are going through a difficult time. One situation in my lifetime when I was faced with adversity would have to be in my football career. It was my senior year and during one of my games I had unfortunately, sprained my right ankle on the first play of the game. I was devastated when I found this out and did everything I could to get back into that game. One example was when I was getting taped up to hopefully prevent as much pressure on my foot as possible. However, every time I would go to take a step, I could feel lots of pressure on my foot causing me to limp. Then when I tried to run, I could not make fast cuts that I would need to be able to do in the game. This is when the trainer told me that if I wanted to have a shot at returning at all the rest of the season, then I should just sit this one out and let my ankle heal. …show more content…
But I also knew I could potentially ruin my sports career if I made the wrong choice. I loved football and did not want to sit out, but I knew that one wrong cut on the field could end my sports career. That itself was enough for me to decided that it was best for me to heal up and try and come back later in the season. This choice to sit out a game and let the healing process begin, would turn out to be one of the smartest choices I have ever made. I say this because after a week in a boot and two weeks of taking it easy, I was cleared to play football again. When I returned to playing I was not one hundred percent, but I knew that if I wanted to finish out my high school football career then I needed to fight the pain. At first it was hard to fight the pain because it felt like my foot was numb all the time, but overtime I started to not feel it
