Personal Response to Texts
How do these texts suggest about the role adversity plays in shaping an individual’s identity?

If a person has faced an adversity in their life, there is always something important about it which creates the person’s character or breaks it. Almost everyone who have faced adversity in their life would agree that a life with adversity is more appreciated than a life of privilege, and that is because you learn from your adversities. Going through that adversity, you learn about yourself as an individual, you discover something new about yourself and you feel a joy which you have never felt before, you feel happy and proud of yourself when you look back or when you tell your story to your children.

My Grandma got two shocks at once, first she lost her husband and second she had to take care of something which she didn’t know how to. But she knew she have to learn all about the farm because that was the only way she can make a living for herself and for her family. Even though it took time for her to learn but in the end she learned everything and started selling farm goods from which she earned money. She had to face lots of problem but she also learned and discovered new things about herself. At that time, she was the only woman who worked at a farm because most of the farmers used to be men. Working there made her strong and an independent woman. She gained confidence and people used to respect her. Many people still give examples of her as she was the only working woman working in her village.

Every human at least once in their life have faced adversity and I am sure they have learned something new about themselves during that difficult time. I think anyone who have faced adversity, might be thankful for it because that adversity made them a better and a strong individual. If you compare two people one who have faced more hardship and one who did not face any, most people will appreciate the person who have faced adversity then a person who didn’t because those adversity helped that person shape his/her
