Advantages Of C-Section

A successful delivery gives a mother a sense of accomplishment. However all delivery methods are not the same and all include perils and favors. Two delivery methods include vaginal delivery with no anesthesia, which can also be referred to as a “natural delivery.” The second delivery method is called a cesarean also known as a C-section.
Women that choose to deliver vaginally or naturally with no anesthesia, need to be aware of the advantages of this method of delivery. Labor time is shorter when delivering naturally. Anesthesia slows down contractions which interferes with the body’s natural way of delivery. While there are no drugs administered to a mother during natural child birth .This allows a baby to be more alert after delivery, compared to those birthed under anesthesia. Delivering naturally can result in a faster recovery time. If baby and mother are both healthy, recovery time can be shorter. One benefit of a C-section is an epidural. An epidural is a very effective pain relief drug used during a cesarean. Rather than dealing with the pain of a natural delivery, a mother is able to cope with the pain with the help of the epidural. Women that have their baby’s at an older age are likely to have higher risk factors. These factors conclude in a C-section which is safer for mother and baby. A disadvantage of a cesarean is not being able to bond with the baby immediately after delivery because of the heavy medication. Another disadvantage is the mother is not able to get up and move around as quickly because of the cut in abdominal area this requires more time to heal. Mothers who receive an epidural due to a C- section will lower her and baby’s blood pressure which will lead to fetal distress which can compromise the baby’s
