Advantages and disadvantages of survey are as follows:
• It is easy to develop compared to other research methods.
• It is easy to manage the all process.
• The researcher need not meet the interviewees personally because it can be administered by use of mobile devices; administer online, use emails or telephone.
• It is possible to reach large numbers of interviewees hence collecting comprehensive data.
• Geographical dependence is highly reduced because it can be conducted from a remote location.
• Data collected is poised to be comprehensive as many questions can be asked.

The use of survey in the title “Police Culture, Individualism, and Community Policing”, The fact that the target group was a large group which was being studied , it was important to use different survey methods for example use of emails and telephone calls .
The findings of the study are: the network of police and the community and the values and norms of their behavior encouraged mutual advantages in their social cooperation. This however showed a sense of relationship between their duties and responsibilities and improved community policing.
