By choosing the appropriate pulse sequence and pulse sequence parameters, MRI has the ability of producing images by different contrast mechanisms giving it tremendous flexibility.
Disadvantages of MRI:

Spondylodiscitis:

It is also advisable to ask the patient to empty their urinary bladder before the start of the examination so that they do not want to go during the scan.
Patient counselling is essential to relieve anxiety associated with the examination. The issue of patient movement due to anxiety during the examination can be eliminated by counselling. Reassurance before the examination is also necessary to ensure patient comfort during the procedure.
It is necessary to explain the whole procedure to the patient before they get into the scanner. The patient needs to know the approximate duration of the procedure. They should be alerted of the various loud noises that the MRI machine makes during the scan so that they do not get alarmed when being scanned.
The patient needs to be explained the importance of keeping still during the procedure.
Patient Positioning:
• The patient is given ear plugs to help reduce the noise generated by the working MRI machine.
• The patient is placed supine on the MR couch with the long axis of the spine lying in the midline and parallel to the ‘Z’ axis of the magnet
