The Roman and Han empires had different economic strategies and different techniques for production and trade of goods. The Han Empire was concerned with products and making sure everyone ate while the Roman Empire was more concerned with importing and exporting processed goods and using slaves for labor. The Han dynasty highly valued technology and innovation because they depended on technology for efficiency of their empire. This is supported in document 3 in which it discusses the mythical invention of the mortar and pestle and improvements of technology efficient. In the Han Dynasty, the government is responsible for the commoners as shown in document 2. In document 2 it shows the importance of tools doe the function of agriculture and social balance. For the Chinese, working was really important, however, in Roman society working was correlated with slavery and the poor, which in document 5 is clearly stated. According to the Romans, work was never respected. Document 4 shows another example of Han admiration for working for the commoners. Document 4 is revolved around Tu Shih who helped the commoner by inventing new technology. However in document 7 the Roman argument is presented that tools are necessary but invention is not a “great”
