Nursing is a career that is both rewarding and challenging. My passion to study nursing first began when I started working as a Home Care Assistant after studying Health and Social Care at College. My second job was working alongside nurses in Hospital, as an Agency Healthcare Assistant. This experience has influenced my career decision greatly; this is as it has allowed me to develop a strong insight to the challenges and constraints that come with the satisfying and rewarding role of a nurse. Being an Agency Healthcare Assistant I have experience working in hospitals such as Bradford Royal Infirmary and ST Luke's hospital in Bradford.…
In 2015, my eight year old nephew nearly passed away. One minute he was fine, lying on his hospital bed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Hasbro Children’s Hospital; , the next, a code blue was called and he was rushed to triage and fell into a coma for a couple of days. Yadiel was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at the age of five. He was a healthy, five year old boy who loved to play outside and at board games with his older brother and me. Suddenly, he became ill and, after numerous exams, received a diagnosis.…
Nurses are the backbones of any clinic or hospital sites. They provide health care in the best of their ability to help their patients but also be there for them as a person. Compassion and tolerance is key to being a nurse. There is no point of caring for other human beings especially those who are ill, if you can not be CARING. Nurses are just as important as any physician, just because they didn't earn a PhD, nurses are still just as helpful as any doctor in the medical field.…
I am writing to you to inform you of my interest in the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Pre-Licensure program at Western Governors University. After thoroughly exploring all of my options I have come to the conclusion that the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing program at your institution is my best option because it suits my personal lifestyle with its flexibility, affordability, and innovative approach towards education. I haven’t always known I wanted to do nursing. I actually thought for a long time that my calling was to become a Biomedical Engineer. Since a young age, I found passion in helping those in need but also a love for technological advances.…
Cumulatively, my life experiences and challenges have helped me develop good nurturing instincts and an ability to recognize others in need of help. At the same time, I have also developed an intense intellectual curiosity about the human mind and the way that trauma alters the perspective of the individual. I realize that to a large extent, understanding those processes has helped me come to terms with some of my experiences better than I could have without that conceptual understanding. Those personal challenges together with my professional psychiatric nursing experience have contributed to my interest in advanced education. After careful thought, I have drawn the conclusion that the obvious career direction for which I am best suited, by nature and by prior undergraduate…
The Direct Entry option at Vanderbilt would allow me to accomplish all my academic goals, granting me the ability to complete a BSN in a timely manner with hands-on experience that will be paramount to success toward completing a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. My Undergraduate career was obscured by the looming presence of clinical depression, this personal experience been the driving force in my pursuit to become a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My greatest struggles with depression came with accepting there was a problem. Initially, I refused to acknowledge the diagnosis. The idea of taking medications for something that was an issue of will and my responsibility to control was frankly unacceptable.…
I clearly remember the day I found my father lying on the sidewalk as he suffered from a stroke. I was barely a teenager when my father became ill. My family spent countless hours in the hospital, nursing home, and various doctors ' offices trying to learn what had happened to this man who was our pillar of strength. I recall how the nurses became his greatest advocate and always voiced their concern for him. In those moments I realized I had found my calling in the field of nursing.…
The course I am applying for is Adult Nursing. This is my chosen profession as for the past seven years I have worked in a variety of care settings which has included working with adults, children and people with learning disabilities. Working in these care settings has both encouraged and inspired me to pursue nursing as a career. Firstly, I worked in a residential care home where I quickly learned that caring for others and supporting vulnerable people is something I am passionate about and since then I have been keen to keep progressing in this area.…
Ever since I can remember I have had the urge to care and look after people. Being a young carer myself, it has inspired me to pursue a career within the health care profession. After witnessing my mother and younger brother go through a number of very serious medical procedures, I very often observed and got hands on too. I was in awe and had complete admiration for all the wonderful things that the nurses and doctors had done for them. As I helped my mother through her tough battle with cancer, I realized that this caring nature came naturally to me.…

an inspirational message that has inspired me for many years. Being brought up on the basic principles of integrity and morality, I believe my suitability for completing an undergraduate degree in Adult Nursing, makes me the ideal candidate. I believe my aspiration for working within a care environment developed into a career ambition when I completed my first work experience placement at the age of 14. During this time I was placed on the maternity ward focusing on post and antenatal care units at Good Hope Hospital. As well as being impressed by the quality of service provided by nurses and midwives, It became clear that my interpersonal skills with people; enabling patients to feel comfortable, cared for, relaxed and respected,…
The Nursing field give people many opportunities to care and work with sick patients. With the nursing major, I am seeking to work in a hospital and soon get my license to work in the baby’s nursey room. Growing up, I always wanted to be a detective or in the criminal justice filed. Well, my gran-mother starting going in and out of the hospital and having surgery. When I went with my gran-mother to one of her visits before her surgery, I began to watch everything the nurses did to her as well as question them.…
When advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) complete their graduate program and are ready to start their first job, it is an exciting time! Unfortunately, as these practitioners leave the comforts of academia to enter the workplace, feelings of stress and insecurity are frequently reported (Kelly & Mathews, 2001; Valdes-Pierce, 2004). The transition can be both challenging and overwhelming (Gearhart, 2011). Bahouth and Esposito-Herr (2009) reported survey results of newly graduated nurse practitioners (NPs) that described feelings of not being prepared for the expectations of their new job and role, as well as a general lack of support. Anecdotally, these same concerns have been expressed by new hire certified registered nurse anesthetists…
The thought of becoming a teracher for young kids, have always swimmed in the thoughts of my mind as a child. I have always had that passion and eagerness to want to help and guide them. I have always wanted to know that someday, I would cause a great impact on many of their lives and show them a route to a better future. My first ideals of becoming a nurse mainly had to do with self interest that I had with young kids. My mom always asked me why I always had so much love for kids like that?…
