The painting that I chose for my visual analysis term paper is Adoration of the Magi, Gherardo di Jacopa Starna, c. 1405. The artist was born in Florence, but came to be an artist in Spain. The painting can be found in the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City. The painting was a gift to the museum in 1952.
This paintings focus is on the mother and child, which I assume is Jesus and Mary. All the figures are standing in a line facing the father, mother, and child. There’s a man kneeling to the baby, which I believe is a sign of respect or power. As mentioned above, the painting was developed in the early renaissance period. The figures clothing is similar to the style of clothing that people wore in the renaissance period.
