Adolf Hitler's Dictatorship After World War One

Decent Essays
Adolf Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933. His reign started as the "state-of-the-art" century of aggressive politics, hatred, and disgust for nearly everyone. Citizens in Nazi Germany were forced to accept the harsh ways, but not everyone obeyed. Some envisioned that there was perhaps a more righteous way to live; this group of people included Helmuth and his friends. Some tried to achieve a more righteous way of life by rebelling, although decided not to because they feared the consequences. It was certain that Germany's dictatorship in the midst of World War 1 would prove to be a regret.

Hitler could have possibly be stopped prior to becoming a ruler by political means, though that became harder and more harder as he gained much popular support, and the dysfunctional Weimar Republic made governing extremely hard for those who were not willing to be in the Nazi party, which is basically how and why he finally became ruler. Once Hitler became dictator , he was not hesitant to use force to push the Reichstag Fire Decree and then the Enabling Act, which were the last nails in the coffin of the Republic. One might argue that these acts could have been stopped politically, without the use of force, but I doubt it, as again, the Nazis used force to legislate them in the first place (some claim that they were even behind the Reichstag…

In conclusion, Hitler’s dictatorship generated negative changes to Nazi Germany society. In particular, the removal of fundamental human rights of free speech oppressed the German populace, forcing conformity of Nazi ideals despite contrary opinion. Such policies also allowed Hitler to persecute “community aliens” throughout Germany, eradicating their rights of state employment, property and marriages with ‘Aryans’, to targeted imprisonment and eventually mass genocide. In regards to economics, while high unemployment rates were decreased due to Hitler’s dictatorship, this was due to the arms boom throughout World War 2 rather than positive economic reform. Overall, Hitler’s autocracy over Nazi Germany had an extremely negative effect on Germany’s…
