Having the opportunity to be in college fulfilling my dreams is something that in the past felt unreachable. Generations after generations throughout both sides of my family were never able to pursue a higher education. At a young age, I decided I would change that. I began preparing myself, studying hard and always staying motivated. Many times, school was a smuggler, not just due to my visual impairment which makes the simple things extremely hard but also with school and home being two completely different cultures. I grew wary about attending college because so many things would change; different people, harder classes, being away from home, being independent, and coping with my visual impairment without the everyday help of my family. My thoughts were that if I were to attend John Brown University things would be easier for me while also having the opportunity to grow as a Christian but I would never be able to afford it, especially with my dad being the one that provided income for the family. Time passed and I made decisions about college but then I realized I wasn’t ready for such a dramatic change in my life and I wanted to pursue God more than I already did. I changed my college choice to John Brown University. It might be expensive but I knew God would find ways to make it possible for me to attend and he has. An example is this very grant. With this said, it is important for me to receive this Grant for my overall education because it will relieve my family and me from some financial stress allowing me to pursue college with less stress and more
