Introduction
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, better known as ADHD, is a psychiatric disorder in people which causes a variety of problems starting from inattention to impulsivity. It can cause severe complications in livelihood and leads to a lot of anguish for the people suffering from this particular disorder.
How Does It Complicate Life?
ADHD causes the brain to function abnormally and the people suffering may end up with absent mindedness, lack of concentration even in tasks where vigilance is utmost required, and a knack for being rash and making hasty decisions. Stimulant Side Effects: Stimulants are the most common prescribed medication. They cause a boost in concentration and attention. However they also cause a high blood pressure which can have long term risks, regular headaches, and stomach pains. They also cause loss of appetite and eating disorders. In some cases, insomnia is also caused as until the dose is gotten at the right times, the effect of the stimulant does not wear off even when it is past sleeping time.
Non-Stimulant Side Effects- Non-stimulants are also used to reduce problems caused by ADHD. These include regular headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness and also momentary confusion. It also may cause a lowered blood pressure.
