This project would not have been as successful had I not gained support across BlackRock. Additionally, I utilized the "we are innovators" principle by working to overcome challenges that came with establishing the networking, such as shifting gear and making the project focus more on disability at BlackRock in general as opposed to just starting a network. I also utilized the "we are a fiduciary to our clients" principle because our clients (BlackRock's employees) expect that we invest in this type of diversity and inclusion like our peers have

Routine activity approach is the study of the human offender or the most likely to commit crime when there is a target, and no capable guardian. It was proposed and coined by Lawrence Cohen and Marcus Felson in 1979 (Miller, 2006: 81). Cohen and Felson based their theory on a rational choice model, in which people make rational decisions in ways that will be to their advantage, with as little disadvantage as possible (Akers, 2004: 26). It is a subfield of criminology and rational choice. The development of this theory was in response to the surge of crime rate in the united between 1947 and 1974(Cohen, 1979: 588).…

Another way of understanding and explain marijuana use within skateboarding culture, would be through the routine activity theory that Johns used in her dissertation. Despite her not finding a higher amount of substance use among skateboarders than other subcultures, she did find an increased amount of substance use among the older informants in the 12th grade. As mentioned in earlier, this would match the findings of Demant & Järvinen, and the routine activity theory may therefore be able to find an explanation of why older adolescents are likely to engage in substance use more generally. This may be because older adolescents are more likely to be without parental supervision, or spend more of their time in an unstructured manner since they…

My target behavior for this assignment was to increase the amount of time I spend studying per week. I operationalized this target behavior by reading my lecture textbooks and rewriting notes from a lecture. I decided to use continuous, real-time recording because studying is a behavior that occurred very minimally throughout the week. I recorded my data using a simple duration data sheet that was saved on my email. The data sheet had a column for every day of the week and I would record the number of hours I engaged in my target behavior daily.…

A quote that I found to be important from this section was, “Each member of the enterprise contributes something different, but they all must contribute toward a common goal. Their efforts must all pull in the same direction, and their contributions must fit together to produce a whole – without gaps, without friction, without unnecessary duplication of effort.” This quote is meaningful to management principles because it explains why managing people in a common direction is important to productivity. It means that all workers for a company have a common goal. Managers must produce an atmosphere in the work place that allows each person to contribute without making any on person’s contribution more important than another’s.…
