Active Or Active Immunotherapy?

Cancer treatment and diagnosis is an area of Scientific research that has seen an exceeding number of breakthroughs and advancements over recent years. One specific field that has experienced major milestones recently is Cancer Immunotherapy. This is the idea of triggering the patient’s own immune system to combat cancerous cells, and can be done in a number of different ways depending on the capability of the individual’s immune system to generate such a response.

Immunotherapy can be active or passive. Active immunotherapy requires the patient’s immune system to be strong enough to generate the cells required to fight cancer. A vaccine would be considered a form of active immunotherapy- when the vaccine is delivered it causes the immune
