She is a 16 year old with her entire life ahead of her, a woman who is unable to provide a stable household, a rape victim; in the face of their society’s overwhelming disapproval, many women all over the world find themselves facing the difficult decision of abortion. Many factors affect a person’s opinion on abortion. Those factors are mainly composed of their culture, plus their preferred religion and political party. These factors combine to create a person’s definition of when a fetus becomes a child. Statements like these are vehemently denied by pro-choice organizations and medical associations. In fact, the American Cancer Society states the following statement on their website, “…scientific research studies have not found a cause-and-effect relationship between abortion and breast cancer (Abortion Myths)” Insinuating that abortion ultimately leads to your death is an irreprehensible scare tactic against vulnerable women. It is unethical strategies such as this one that discredits pro-life organizations and their archaic facts about abortion.
Another argument pro-life organizations use to criminalize abortion is that all life is significant and therefore should have independent rights. This argument is true; however I believe that everybody has the right to decide what the definition of the life is.
