“Sixth graders in the richest school districts are four grade levels ahead of children in the poorest districts”(Motoko Rich Amanda Cox, Matthew Bloch ). Money makes an achievement gap because not everyone has money. “A higher proportion of black and hispanic children come from poor families”(NY times). More money means a better education. So the grading system should be removed to keep the achievement gap small. Also with the achievement gap, races have a lot to do with it too. Schools should abolish grades because different races makes an achievement gap. Different races have different opportunity. “On average, black students typically score one standard deviation below white students”(Christopher Jencks, Meredith Phillips). The most commonly discussed achievement gap is between black and white students. That's why the grading system should be abolished because getting rid of grades would shrink the achievement gap. “But despite endless speculations, no one has found genetic evidence that indicates blacks have less innate intellectual ability than whites”(christopher jencks, Meredith Phillips). Also with this achievement gap, it matters what school you go to.
