Abnormal Behavior In 'The Boarder'

The last movie with abnormal behavior that I watched was probably “The Boarder”. I ordered it from Jane Ryan from Grand Island. She wrote the movie to show her real life encounters with an adopted foster child with Reactive Attachment Disorder. I ordered this movie because it also came with a documentary about families who have experiences Reactive Attachment Disorder.
In the movie, the boy who is adopted does terrible things to his adopted mother, brother and sister, and even kills the family dog. He acts like a perfect angel for the father, making the mother look crazy in the father’s view. The boy is finally caught and found out for who he really is when he stabs and almost kills a little girl on a playground. The cops arrest him and he

The criticism for Boy from the Chicago Sun-Times makes great points about the film as a whole. Roger Ebert mentions that there was potential for the film to go two ways, both which were cleverly avoided by Waititi. Ebert presents the idea that the film could have been the classic story where Boy’s father (Taika Waititi) was the typical bad guy, “introducing a threat to son” or on the opposite side of the spectrum, becoming a film that used too many unnecessary elements, thus making it “flashy”. As a viewer, the film prompted you to consider these options, but as stated by Ebert, it was avoided in a way that the viewer did not even consider until the end of the film.…

Frankenstein and the Problem in Parenting Ever since Mary Shelley published the novel Frankenstein in 1818, many philosophers have debated its significance and the underlying meanings. While some suggest that racism is the most important theme, others believe that the 1931 movie rendition of Frankenstein more clearly shows that parenting is the key focus. When one considers how Dr. Frankenstein’s creation, the main character, reacts to the world around him, most people would likely be surprised that his actions almost always reflected those of a child. It can be seen in many different occasions how the monster approaches people with trust and good intentions, only to be rejected by them, causing him to retaliate negatively.…

A common theme in literature is that of good versus evil. This proves to be true in Alice Sebold’s novel, The Lovely Bones. While it might be hard to imagine any good coming from the story of a brutal rape and murder of a fourteen year old girl, there are moments in the novel that illustrate this battle between good and evil. From the very beginning of the story, we are introduced to good in a young Susie and also to evil in Mr. Harvey. The cruelty with which Mr. Harvey treats this young teenage girl is hard to comprehend.…
