How Is Elizabeth Presented In The Crucible

Arthur Miller, author of The Crucible, created a female character, Abigail Williams, who had a strong fatal attraction to an unenviable man, John Procter. Arthur Miller created Abigail Williams to show how hysterical a person could become for pure hatred and a predestined love. Abigail Williams was a manipulative, rotten child who thought she deserved John Proctor. Abigail persuaded herself to believe that John Proctor loved her and that he would leave his wife and children for her. Abigail thought she was going to end up with John, but John knew that would never happen. John loved his wife and knew that he would never touch or look at Abigail every again. Sadly, John never gave Abigail that memo. Arthur Miller also created Elizabeth Proctor, who’s the totally opposite of Abigail. Elizabeth was an honest, loyal woman that has never done wrong to anyone. She knew the bible and understood that she wanted to be a Christ-like woman. When the story first started, Elizabeth was portrayed as a nasty woman that was lying on Abigail for no particular reason. As the story went on, Elizabeth became someone who was truthful and blunt. Elizabeth told people about Abigail because she didn’t like how Abigail came into her house and disturbed her family. Elizabeth just wanted to show the people of Salem who Abigail truly was.
Abigail was delusional; she was a love sick child who wanted to find someone that loved her. Abigail was crazed with desire for John and didn’t know how to not act on it. She became overwhelmed with the feelings the she was having for John and knew she had to do something to stop these feelings. She slept with John without knowing that it would make the situation worst. Abigail knew she wanted to be with John. She wanted John to sleep with her again and went to any cost to do so. Abigail just couldn’t resist that strong sexual attraction she was having toward
