Sieyes thought the public’s opinion must be heard to voice a view on how should the Third Estate be structured. The pamphlet was an article which portrayed hardships and propositions to take in effect to influence a reform to the third estate.
In this pamphlet, Sieyes defends the citizens of the Third Estate, by inquiring these three questions. “ In the late fall of 1788, the Abbe Sieyes What is the Third Estate ? Sieyes began with a ringing declaration: “ The plan of this work is very simple, we have three questions to ask: 1st. What is the third estate? Everything. 2nd. What has it been in the political order upto now? Nothing. 3rd. What does it demand? To become something.”In this pamphlet, Sieyes argues how the third estate is treated unjustly, and how the other two estates supremacy should be restored. After the reform of the French nation, this declaration created changes to the French society.“ This document, the most important expression of the French revolution, clearly defined the fundamental principles of a new society based on equality and individual rights and a new system of government based on the consent of the governed.”
This created new laws for the human beings. Every human was given equal rights, freedom and was provided with protection. All human beings are created equally: cannot be categorized by their religion, class, color, race, or sex, etc... In Article 1, “ Men are born and remain free and equal in rights; social distinctions can be established only for the common benefit.” Whether its a male or female, they are born with capabilities and are able to use these skills for their own purposes. Each and every individual are given privileges that cannot be constrained from the authority, or any other human. According to Article 6, “All citizens being equal in its eyes are equally admissible to all honors, positions, and public employments, according to their capabilities and without other distinction than those of virtues and talents.” In this case, discrimination will not tolerated under certain circumstances and everyone is obligated to equal employment
