I feel that my 7 years of experience as an Education Assistant serves as one my greatest strengths especially the entirety of goal 6: The development of the clear commitment to respect and celebrate students. There are two students that work closely with an EA. There is also no IEP and therefore no set goals to refer back to in order to celebrate successes for these students. Immediately, I knew I needed to have a plan to put into action. I created successful moments such as check marks for simples tasks like writing their name and date to have them participate in whole class expectations. Moments such as these provide an open invitation for learning. From this, both students have shown curiousity for what the class is doing. For example, coming up with their journals to show me, check and have me share their picture like their classmates.

The process of creating a signed class charter of values has given students a voice for how we should conduct ourselves in the classroom. This benchmark has students self correcting or recognizing, with some reminder, the classroom expectations. We have also spent time in identifying what a respectful audience looks and sounds like. I have modelled how to wait for a respectful audience and encourage students to do the same. With reminders, students wait until they have the respect of the classmates. Then they make the decision to speak. I strongly believe that teaching students their voice matters and how to express their thoughts, in an appropriate manner, is an essential skill for their
