These three author, Lahir, Adichie and Danticat write about tragedy by having something bad happen in these stories Like someone dies or goes to jail. Also, these author discuss pain and how someone has to deal with it and accept what happened. Everyone in life has tragedy and pain but everyone has a different way of dealing with it. All three of these author write about tragedy and discuss how much pain a person can handle. In a Temporary Matter, Lahir talks about tragedy and pain. She talks about how people go through tragedy and pain, by saying that stuff in life happens and you have to deal with it. First the husband and wife loss a child together, “ Shoba; once, when he mentioned the baby’s death, she looked up from her knitting, and said, But you weren't even there” (9). Then later in the story they are probably getting a divorce because, “I've been looking for an apartment and I’ve found one” (21). These two quotes show how people in life have tragedys in their life and that might cause pain with the tragedy. …show more content…
In the story, the kid gets arrested for being out after curfew at a bar. As Adichie said, “security man came to tell my parents that Namabia had been arrested with the some cult boys at a bar and had been taken away in a police van” (9). Then the family goes to support the pain of their child and for there own pain. Also, an old man in prison for nothing but they're looking for his son. His son is wanted for murder but they didn't find him so they took his dad. The kid in prison fell for the old man because he has nothing in prison, he can't even afford water.
