A focused CNS examination is an essential screening tool for evaluation of neurological symptoms during calls. The main components of the exam consist of mental status, cranial nerves, motor system, sensory system, reflexes, cerebellar function and gait. Mental status exam helps to determine the level of consciousness and intactness of higher functions such as attention/concentration, language, memory, visuospatial skills and executive function.
