Emily Abuses the Corpses of Homer Barron In William Faulkner's story "A Rose for Emily," Miss Emily Grierson was isolated her whole life by her father (1). Shortly into the story her father dies, and she doesn’t adventure out much at all afterwards (2). The townspeople came over, and she did not even show any grief whatsoever on her face. She told them that her father was not dead (3). A little while after the death of her father, she meet Homer Barron. They became very attracted to each other, and they went out on the town every weekend (3). Homer had become distant from Emily, and she suddenly became worried. She knew he was all she had left, so she clang to him. This is when Emily went to the store and bought some arsenic and a men’s toiletry set also with some men’s clothing (5). The townspeople began to think they were wed, but shortly they noticed that the sidewalks were done (5). This is when Homer disappeared for a long time. The next few years pasted, and Miss Emily died (5). The house was left untouched for a long time then her cousins came and wanted to find out what was in the locked room (6). They found the decayed body of Homer Barron with a long strand of gray hair lying next to him (6).

She is definitely a sick-minded human being. Necrophilia is her diagnose because she could not accept loneliness, was isolated, and became sexually attracted to the corpses. These are the main reason many people become a necrophiliac. Emily was not crazy, but she was very ill. There’s many little details that show that she is attracted to Homer’s corpses throughout the story. She had such issues with feeling loved that it came down to the sickest action ever. She learned her way of feeling loved, but she truly would never know how to feel loved by living
