These videos were very informational! I love that they are showcasing a student in them. It makes the videos a little more relatable. In the Introduction the student explains how the library has helped him learn new things. While watching the tutorial videos, hopefully we’ll be able to learn new pointers to help us gain knowledge and save time. I love that he says how much easier learning is once you know the basics. The Searching video starts off with making the statement that the internet had made research so much faster and easier. When I heard this statement, I thought it was kind of ironic considering Professor Ortiz’s option on technology. I can’t say I don't enjoy the internet, but I’d have to agree with Professor Ortiz’s belief that hand written notes help us remember what we’ve learned. It scared me a little bit to hear the student say that once you get into college, the internet won’t cut it anymore. I’m glad I’m learning that now, rather than when I first enter college though. The Locating Sources Video talks about where we can turn for help. In the beginning of the video, the student explains that all though the search tricks can seem overwhelming, in the long run they’ll be a lot of help. Once you have a list of books and articles on your topic, you must evaluate what you found. The student explains that research isn't just about finding things, you must know how to evaluate what you found. I love that he says just because you found it in a library, doesn't mean it’s right for your paper. To help you remember what’s right for your paper you can use the acronym CRAAP. The CRAAP acronym can help you remember the five things to look for in possible sources. You should ask yourself is it current, relevant, accurate, authorized, and does it have a purpose.
