A Review Of The Movie 'Hairspray' Hairspray's Dream

Decent Essays
Hairspray was a new movie this year and quite a good one. This movie is about a plump teenager named, Tracy Turnblad. It takes place in the early 60s. She wants to dance, but she doesn’t have the body type of a dancer. Her dream would be to dance on the , “ Corny Collins Dance Show.” When her dream comes true, she becomes more popular. While she is on the show, she becomes more famous and uses it to say what she believes and about integration. Amber Von Tussle was the star on the dance show until Tracy came on. They became enemies and ran against each other for the title, “ Miss Auto Show 1963.” I enjoyed this movie and would definitely see it again. The music was enjoyable and it made the movie all the more enjoyable.

For this assignment, I watched the film “Pretty in Pink” (1989). Molly Ringwald acted as Andie Walsh, a poor teenager, who lived with her single father as a working class family. Throughout the movie, she struggles with the richer students at her snobbish high school treating her more like a misfit and less of an equal because she has less money. Andie holds her head high and brushes them off. Despite her opinion on people with money, she falls for Blaine, a “richie”.…

It revolves around the death of one of the women’s children and how they come together to support each other and deal with this tragedy. The movie opens at Truvy’s Beauty shop, where Annelle, a kooky beauty school graduate is hired to work in the shop. Across town, at M’lynn’s home, they are preparing for her daughter Shelby’s wedding.…

Through my own evaluation, the protagonist of the movie, Jody Sawyer, goes through many personal and social difficulties in the duration of her journey to earn a place at the American Ballet Company. Jody exhibits strength and determination to fulfill her role as an elite ballet dancer whilst going through her own personal struggles. Jody is constantly put-down and scrutinized by the American Ballet Academy’s (ABA) directors for her bad feet and body type which leads to self-doubt and loss of motivation in her lowest part of the film. Conversely, there are some inspiring and memorable scenes throughout the movie which highlight how a passion for dance and hard work pays off.…

Also, Kon Satoshi and Christopher Nolan are both well-known directors with a large number of fans. However, Paprika was produced four years earlier than Inception, which, in my opinion, also has the content with deeper and more complex thought. Inception is mainly about the demons story of the character which was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.…
