A Reflective Essay To Ridgemont's Academic Bowl Team

It has been an honor to serve my community, and it has provided some of the most insightful experiences of my high school career. As a two year volunteer and now employee at Ridgemont School in the after-school program, I have learned a lot about myself as a caretaker and teacher. Spending my afternoons tutoring students of all ages has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. There are many students who I have come to know very well, and it is heartwarming to see the admiration they have for me as an older and successful student. As a four year member of the Lady Rebel Varsity Soccer team, I was always one of the most experienced players on the team. But experience doesn’t make a leader; it is the nights spent after practice helping a teammate on her technique; it is the pregame huddle, where I stressed the importance of leaving everything out on the field; it is the sacred relationship between a senior and a freshmen that transcends age. I am grateful to this sport for the lesson it has taught me, and I am thankful for the teammates and coaches who helped make me the leader I am today.
