Motivational Speech Ideas

Four ways to be direct to the audience with the speech are “strive for naturalness,” “show enthusiasm,” “project a sense of confidence,” and “engage directly with audience members”.

“Strive for naturalness” is giving a speech naturally rather than acting with the thought of it being an important conversation. For example, if you have a birth of your child, you are going to tell your parents about it. You don’t want to act it out like it’s a part of a movie scene because it’s not possible. You want to have a topic that would excite you to the point of a birth of your child. If acting it out, it could lead to bigger problems such as the audience find out or think you don’t care or bother about the topic you are talking about therefore disrespected

The purpose of a speech is to show your passion about the content of the speech to get the audience passionate and motivated to what the speech is aiming for. For example, I deeply care about saving and protecting the world to the point where I want to share with others the importance and how to do it. Since I care so much about it, I will speak about it with passion and use the tone of my voice, different facial expression and body languages at different time to really convey the audience how deeply I care and find it important. It will make the audience understand the importance and how to save and protect the world through making about us rather than me or …show more content…
Define extemporaneously delivery of a speech. Why do you think I want you to deliver your speech in this manner?

Extemporaneously delivery of a speech is to deliver a speech with being prepared and have practiced before giving the speech but not having it memorized. It is giving the speech through an outline with simple notes and points not in full sentences which you can glance at a few times during the speech.

I think you want me to deliver my speech in this manner because with this method you can have a real conversation with the audience since you fully understand and know about what you are talking about. The goal of the audience is to connect with the audience through engaging with them as if in a conversation. This will make the audience think you are credible since you know what you are talking about making the pay attention and care about it. Since I am engaged in a conversation with the audience, I can make eye contact and let myself have normal conversational body tone and movements. With memorization, you don’t have the flexibility since you are just giving it out from memory which is quite different from a conversation as it prevents from more direct eye contact and normal body movements. Even if you do understand what you are talking about, it coming from memorization will practically seem like you just have it memorized since you are not talking as if understanding it. This makes the audience ponder whether you know what you are talking about since you are

When giving a speech many speakers use different methods to keep their audience involved and listening. Methods are often used to make the speech easy to focus on. Martin Luther King, Bill Clinton, and George Bush all used the method of “Call to action.” In their speeches Clinton used the method the best. Martin Luther King’s use of “call to action” was seen in paragraph 10 when he said “…Go back to the slums and ghettos of our norther cities knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.”…

Amanda Wilson Professor Leightenheimer English 1102-01 23 October 2017 Role and Pathos: How Eugene Debs Creates Relatability Crafting and reciting a speech can be an incredibly difficult requirement. The main difference between these and, for example, an essay, is that enunciation and delivery can make or break a speech. With this addition also comes extra importance on understanding and reading the responses of your audience to gauge effectiveness. Speeches need to have a form of an emotional pull to them, or else they sort of inadvertently transition to lectures rather than a form of persuasion. Actions can still be carried out in more logically oriented speeches, but that passion to push someone could be lost.…

The general purpose of this speech was to draw attention to our societal isolation, and how we don’t do enough to promote positive mental health. Mr. Junger talks about the horrors of war, and the toll it takes on veterans. He talks about PTSD and the mental health of these veterans. He then talks about how these veterans return to the U.S., and find themselves isolated and alone. He uses examples of how bad veteran suicide is here, and contrasts that with the Navajo warriors and Israeli soldiers.…

In the heart of war, you are able to see the strong leaders from the weak ones. You are able to see those who can lead armies and countries to victory. Queen Elizabeth gave her speech to motivate her troops to win and she did this by her imagery and diction. Battles aren’t won by those who lack confidence, they are won by those who truly believe they can win. Queen Elizabeth tried to make her troops more confident so they were able to win.…

In between all the sessions and activities there never seemed to be a time to sit down and formulate a well thought out speech. In running for a city government, for example, we were so busy discussing out city’s issues that as soon as the discussion was over it was time for the candidates to give their speeches. Even though the amount of time was very limited, it was a very enriching experience because the method of thinking…

One main thing this chapter talks about is how to form a introduction. The first thing you have to do is to get the audience's attention. Sometimes this is called a hook ,which is made to grab the audience's attention so they will listen to what you have to say. There are many simple ways to do it like asking a question, stating a quotation or fact and then connect that to what you are speaking about in your speech. Asking a question is a one main way to get the audience's attention.…

One of thing things A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking talks about that I want to draw from going forward is forming a specific speech purpose. “Ask yourself: What do you want the audience to learn/do/reconsider/agree with?” (Page 50). This is an idea that I want to keep in mind a lot more before I start writing my speeches. By being able to pinpoint my intentions I believe I will be more effective in making audience laugh or making them consider a certain idea, etc.…

The speaker did well on speaking clearly, made a good eye contact, and most importantly was he had a good transition throughout his speech. Firstly, he spoke very clearly through his speech because I can hear each of the single words that he spoke. It was important that the audience hear what he is talking about. Secondly, he made a good eye contact to the audience. He did not just focus on reading his note cards.…

The American dream is a keystone of our country’s identity. At the core of our nation are the principles of freedom, honor, intelligence, and dignity. We had to pretend we were in that moment of time where the occasion is occurring and give a speech based off of that occasion. I did my special occasion speech on my friends Rachel and Thai’s wedding. I noticed during this speech after watching it, I did have some of the similar and same habits as I did in my persuasive speech. I used my hands a lot, I swayed my body throughout the speech, was very fidgety and used “um” and “like” a lot as word fillers. I noticed I did not have as good eye contact in this speech as I did in the persuasive speech because I had to do a lot of thinking to remember where what was going to say in the next part of the story I was giving.…

I was recently invited to attend the Toastmasters meeting in Millington, Tennessee, however I was not entirely sure what to expect. I was, to say the least, surprised at how informal and socially casual the club is. In contrast with a TED talk’s audience, there is no harsh buzzer or overbearing timer to stare at while giving your presentation, the meeting was in fact, very relaxed and only focused on self-improvement. It was a place to hear others and be heard yourself, to give honest feedback, to improve the art of the conversation, and to master the art of public speaking.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

I think for me, I really enjoyed how much fun some of the people had with their speeches. You could tell that they were enjoying themselves while they were in front of the class, even though they were a bit nervous at the same time. It made it enjoyable to watch, and actually pulled you in verses the ones where people just stood up there just talking or reading off of a piece of paper. I enjoyed watching the emotions that people had, and I think that is also something that I would have been a benefit to my speeches. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy the things I talked about, but I feel as though I lacked some of the emotion that others had.…
