Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19,1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. Malcolm’s father was a follower of a black leader, who worked to make economic and political ties with Africa, named Marcus Garvey. In 1931, His father was found dead after being ran over; Malcolm believed racists were responsible for his death. He became discouraged by racial prejustice. When he was twelve his mother committed to a mental hospital. Malcolm then spent his childhood in foster homes. In 1941, he moved to Boston, where the youth was involved in criminal behavior. In 1946, Malcolm was arrested and sentenced to prison for burglary. While in prison he joined the Nation of Islam, which is also known
