A Career In Cosmetology Essay

The question is innocent enough. Why did I decide to take cosmetology? There are hundreds of thousands of career paths out there, but this is something I am passionate about. Cosmetology is the art and science of creating, and enhancing the beauty a person already has. A cosmetologist is the cocoon in which a caterpillar entrusts to bring out their inner confidence, to allow them to feel good inside and out. There is nothing like going into a salon, and coming out feeling like a completely different person. Personally, it was something I found therapeutic. As the storms of misfortune found there way to me, and blew me off course, I could always anchor myself and take control by changing something about myself. Whether that be a new hair color, cut, or a beautiful set of acrylic nails. I want to be the person someone comes to, and trusts to make them feel good about themselves. Making people happy has always been something I've strived toward, and going down this path is a never ending adventure. Things are always changing. Coming out of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had this overwhelming thought that I had to have everything mapped out, but that's not how life works. I chose to come to this school, and not a 'name brand' school, and I have no regrets about that choice. This cosmetology school has just as much, if not more potential than any of those expensive schools. I have nothing but high expectations for HFM, and I will not accept anything less. I expect to be taught the latest information, and to be in complete preparation for the boards at the end of the year. As an adult student, I have a lot on my plate, but I know that I will do well here. HFM and this program is setting me up for my future, and it's a two way street.
