A Brief Summary Of Interrogation

Michelle is a 24 year old, single college student who had recently started visiting a therapist after being suggested by her University advisor. Michelle had been attending a local university for the past 3 years, which she feels is the only thing good in her life. The entire time she has been there, she never made friends. The only person she has established any sort of relationship with is her advisor. She never was able to keep friends because of how closed off she was. She always felt like the center of attention with a group of people which caused her great anxiety and caused her to not want to hang around much. Michelle said that her freshman year she and her advisor had established a relationship after her grades began to slip and her advisor asked her why and she stated because she wasn’t “smart enough to be here”. Her advisor had done everything from that point in order to motivate Michelle. Michelle stated that her advisor would always say how she could see her potential and that is why she wanted her to seek professional help. For years the advisor, her mom, friends and other family members offered for her to seek attention but she never felt like it would help. The therapist asked her why at that point did she finally feel she needed help. Michelle stated that she had gotten to the point in her education where she could start applying for volunteer hours but she knew she wasn’t well enough, she didn’t have the motivation, and she didn’t believe in herself enough to be able to work well with others. Her advisor had gotten to the point where she felt like her words were no longer able to work with Michelle so she finally decided to seek professional
