I interviewed Salado Mohamed who is a student at St. Cloud State University. She is a third year student, and is studying social work. Salado has many siblings who are all still living in her home country of Kenya. She believes that her siblings wouldn’t move to another country, because her parents are so strict. She decided to come to America because she wanted freedom, somewhere she could live without anyone forcing her to do something she didn’t want to do. By coming to America when she did, Salado escaped an arranged marriage in Kenya. She also wanted a place to call home, and her own. She was worried about how she was going to get back on her feet after not being able to find a job in Alabama. She met a new friend through Facebook that lived in Chicago but when she thought about moving there she didn’t because she was afraid of moving there. The friend had a cousin that lived in Minnesota that was willing to help her out, picking her up from the airport and helping house her for the next few weeks through the cousin’s friends in Minneapolis. After her first paycheck, she then moved to Willmar,
