I was in the 8th grade and I was failing out of my old school called Briarcrest. I just didn’t really want to do school anymore. I felt like if I did it and actually tried then I would lose my friends and be this short, lame, and nerdy kid who didn’t have any friends. I got home from school one day and it was my last day of 8th grade. My mom said “Chris, I need you to come here honey.” I reply “Sure, Mom I’ll be right there”. Mom looks at me and says “You barely passed 8th grade.” I look down at my feet as if I didn’t hear what she said. “I’m sorry” I say with it meaning nothing. “I think you need to transfer schools.” I continue to look at my feet. “But all my friends are at Briarcrest.” “I know that but I really think your academics comes before friendships.” I storm up the stairs to my room. …show more content…
“Virginia.” My mom replies. The next day we head to the airport and get on the next plane to Charlotte, North Carolina. When we land, we rent a car from the airport. As my mom is putting in the address on the GPS, I ask her “What if this doesn’t work out?” “Maybe it will or maybe it won’t” she replies. As we make our way to the town called Mouth of Wilson, I notice there begins to be more of mountains than stores and schools. We are driving along the windy roads of the Blue Ridge Mountains and we can’t seem to find the school. I had done some research the night before and it seems that a lot of NBA players have come from this high school called Oak Hill Academy.
