8th Grade Experience Essay

I’ve heard that out of all the middle school classes, eighth grade is the most enjoyable. Going on school trips, bonding with our buddies, and even just hanging out as the big guys on campus contribute to this opinion. Although I am sure that this year will be a blast I still have concerns on how my health will affect my experience. Grades are also another worry of mine and how my year will influence my work.
Ashland, Yosemite, the Pumpkin Patch, Star King, and the East Coast are some of the examples of the places we visit during our year. The one I am looking forward to most, would have to be Yosemite, because of my love for snow, the cold, and bundling up. As much as I love those, being with friends and hiking with them is also a huge part of why I’m looking forward to this trip.

This is a huge factor in my eighth grade experience because I don’t know when I am going to be in pain, and it can take from a couple of days to a couple weeks to recover. As much as I hate being in pain, I hate make-up work almost just as much. Make-up work puts a lot of stress and pressure on me to to figure out what I missed, when I can make it up, and even how to do it. I really hope I can get through the year without missing to much more due to my health.
Missing school also really affects my grades. As I do not get the learning experience everyone else does, I’m often left behind to ask my peers, and teachers if necessary, different things on the lesson and to explain things to me. I try to do my best with everything that I accomplish to keep my grades up to a point where I am happy and proud of them, but i still have a ways to go. Hopefully I can change my motto from, “Just get through today,” to something more positive as I grow more confident with my academic

Different from Bauby, Lucy in Autobiography Of A Face gets me a new attitude to treat fatal illness. As well as The Diving Bell And The Butterfly, I wondered the meaning of the topic. Have you ever felt the need to take a day off school because of high stress and anxiety levels? Studies have shown that teenagers have recently shown an increase in stress, depression, and anxiety levels. This can lead to poor school performance. Should students have to go to school when they feel mentally unstable or should mental health days be a valid excuse for an absence. I believe that students should be able to use mental health as a valid excuse, just as sick days because it is quite impossible to focus on school and classwork when on the verge of a mental breakdown or on the verge of tears.…

These teachers followed specific guidelines in their teacher’s guide books to help them schedule activities and lessons for the week. They are provided with work books and materials but get to decide on how to execute those plans. The teacher who taught the upper grade levels of high school had their whole year planned out. I observed Math and Social Science.…

Transitioning from middle school to high school is scary enough, not to mention finding out that your best friends won’t be attending that same school adds a little pressure on a pre-teen who, for the most part is really shy. When I first started high school I had a cousin who was a year older than me, she showed me around school and I ended up hanging out with her and her friends for a few months. Then she introduced me to some of her newer friends who were in the same grade as me. They were nice people and they got me through the first year of high school, but I never felt like I belonged to “their group”.…

As students there are various elements that affect our educational experiences. Factors such as race, gender, class, power and privilege have shaped our thoughts and views on school and learning. Race has greatly influenced my experiences in school as well as in society. Through the analysis of my own experiences I have a clearer understanding of the effects of these categories, especially race and its impact in educational settings. My experiences as a student have impacted my perceptions of teaching and have taught me some key techniques I would need to incorporate in my own classroom with my students.…

I was taking on a high school math course, Algebra 1, while also balancing a 9 month research project, National History Day, and my First Lego League robotics team. However, it was through this trial that I learned more about myself and how I manage stress. 8th grade year was the most challenging, but it is the most influential in me becoming the person I am now.…

Everyone learns and studies differently so in order to really succeed you must find what works for you, and how to keep everything in order. It took me forever to really understand I needed to find my own organization and study tactics. Along with organization the need to use my failures to rise up in my classes really led me to maintain high grades. In my edblog “Failure” I discuss the troubles of failure and how to use it to construct a foundation for school. I find I learn more from failures than excelling grades, because it shows that not everything can be handed to you and that I needed to step up, change what I had been doing, and learn new things in order to help me succeed.…

When entering junior high, we were constantly reminded by teachers, parents, and school administrators how different it was from elementary school. It was supposed to be the start of a transition from childhood to young adulthood, and though I discounted many of these sentiments at the time, looking back it certainly was. In an instant, it seemed, everyone started swearing and the hallways began to smell of a putrid mixture of not enough or too much cologne. For the first time we had to change before gym, no one really sure whether it was more socially acceptable to change in a bathroom stall or feign confidence by doing it out in the open. Talk swirled of who got their periods, who was wearing what bra size, and which boys needed to stop cultivating…
